There may not be anything more amazing than capturing smiles. Celeste, one of our senior reps, was at the studio Thursday evening and we did just that…capture frame after frame of beautiful smiles.
We’ve been blessed with the best reps in the area…

Good morning! I had the great privilege of photographing Lindsey & Bo Rinehart’s destination wedding in Playa del Carmen, Mexico last week. To say it was amazing would be an understatement!
I first met Bo last summer for photos of their 18 month old daughter, Sloane. And then I met up with Lindsey shortly after their daughter Arden was born.
My trip began with the first flight being delayed 45 minutes from Kansas City to Houston. Lucky for me it was an easy connection. Upon arrival to Cancun I checked in with the shuttle company…thinking everything would be quick. I was WRONG! An hour later they put me in the van with 4 other couples. And hour and a half after that I arrived to my resort in Playa del Carmen. The resort (http://www.mahekalplaya.com/) left me speechless! Definitely worth the long van ride!
Friday was spent reading (Da Vinci Code) on the beach and then dinner in downtown Playa. The Big Day (photographs below) went by quickly. Lindsey picked the perfect time for the ceremony, resulting in amazing evening light for images.
I finally crawled into bed at 1 a.m. Sunday and slept for 3.5 hours before grabbing a ride back to the Cancun airport. After missing my connection in Houston I finally arrived back in Kansas City, glad to be home but missing the delightful weather and hilarious people in Mexico. Each and every person I met was beyond awesome.
It truly was an amazing journey, one I’d gladly make again. Kenny
We’ve been busy shooting 2012 seniors already!
In order to boost awareness of our studio and products, we photograph a group of seniors at the end of their junior years so that they can spread awareness about Captured Images. This year we had an amazing group of 2012 seniors: Sami, Kelsey, Marlie, Celeste and Morgan. They will be coming back this summer to do a full senior photo shoot, since we only do a limited amount of photos during the initial shoot.
The order of the images are as follows - Morgan, Chanute High School; Celeste, Iola High School; Sami, Fort Scott High School; Kelsey and Marlie, both from St. Mary’s-Colgan in Pittsburg.
We’ve not only been busy with regular photo duties, but we’ve been printing like crazy trying to get our new displays ready for our Open House April 30.
Today we also debuted several new products to the women who took part in the FSCC Women’s Luncheon – the turnout was PHENOMENAL! Thanks to everyone who signed up for a free shoot!
Marlie stopped by the studio Saturday to do her first senior photo shoot. This is one of the last photos we took and it’s by far my favorite!
Luckily she brought rain boots . . . she had to cross this roaring creek to get to the rock in the middle. The umbrella really adds a nice finishing touch!
Jordan stopped by the studio last week for his senior photos. He’s a 2011 senior … yes, we are still shooting for 2011 seniors if you haven’t already had yours taken!!!
We had been shooting for about 20 minutes when he said he wanted some pictures of his dance moves … not knowing what was going to happen I asked him to show me so I knew exactly how to photograph it. What happened next was pretty stinking cool!!!

Any more questions?
Call during our regular office hours, or send a message from our contact page
Hair - Don’t try a new hairstyle just for your session, and have your hair cut around a week before your session is scheduled
Skin Problems – Don’t worry if you develop a skin problem. Our finished portraits can be fully retouched to eliminate blemishes and soften harsh lines.
Glasses - Problems with glasses can lead to extra retouching charges. We can remove glare on glasses, but tinted lenses cannot be lightened – even with artwork. If your glasses are tinted or exceptionally thick, they can distort the way the camera photographs the eye. In this case, you should ask your optometrist for a pair of empty frames tow wear for your portrait session. If you have any questions regarding your glasses or extra retouching charges on glasses, please contact us.
Braces - Braces can be removed with artwork at an extra charge. Howe ver, some dentists are willing to remove braces for your session if you take the time to scedule the procedure.
Tanning - Removing tan or sunburn lines will incur additional retouching charges.
For Girls… - Makeup can affect the way your portrait looks. Both fresh, natural makeup, or “evening” makeup photograph well. Call if you have questions.
For Boys… - A fresh shave is a must! If you have a beard or mustache, make sure it is trimmed to your liking.
If you have a hobby, bring it along! Musical instruments, art supplies, theatrical garb, cheerleading or athletic uniforms, band uniforms, stuffed animals, skateboards, pets, girlfriends, boyfriends, and buddies. Think creatively and you’ll have a portrait to remember!
Bring a casual outfit that will blend with natural outdoor settings. Earth tones are an excellent choice. Also remember that simple styles photograph best.
If you have an outdoor hobby or interest – backpacking or jogging for example – bring your gear. We’ll also be happy to photograph you with your car, bike, or motorcycle.
Informal portraits invite much more variety in clothing, color, and style. Girls can choose a favorite sports outfit, dress, prom dress, shorts, jeans outfit – the colors you really enjoy. Possible choicdes for boys include a suit, jeans outfit, a casual or sports outfit, or a school or other jacket. Bring extra outfits, and we’ll help you choose.
Proper clothing allows the face to dominate the portrait, with all other elements being secondary, Against a medium or dark background, colors that photograph best for the yearbook portrait and other close-up poses are medium to dark tones of green, brown, rust, wine, or blue. Darker shades are more slimming
Against a medium or dark background avoid light colors that approximate flesh tones such as beige, tan, peach, pink, white, and yellow. These colors not only dominate a portrait and overpower the face, but also drain color from the face and make the wearer appear unusually pale.
Bare shoulders or tops with “spaghetti straps” often make the subject look heavier and take the eye away from the face.
Especially bright colors such as red, orange, or pink, will ruin a portrait because their intensity overwhelms the face.
Stripes, plaids, checks, and bold prints also draw the eye away from the face and do not photograph well.
For your yearbook picture or other head-and-shoulders or close-up poses, dress in something very simple both in color and style. Boys can choose a suit, sport coat, or sweater. For girls, a plain dress, sweater or blouse with a simple neckline is best. Both boys and girls should wear long sleeves to keep the eye from being drawn to the flesh of the arms.
